My initial exposure to Insurance sales in 2007 was quite serendipitous, in hindsight. I had worked as an IT consultant trailing one project to another. Seeing the need for financial stability, some of my family in Arkansas introduced me to two principals in an Agency that served the Senior market exclusively. I was brought in and trained to assist the Medicare beneficiary by offering Medicare Advantage plans, and Medicare Supplements, while learning the various personality profiles which exist within that consumer demographic. I resumed my Medicare business in Texas while caring for my ailing father. I continue to serve my existing client base while responding to referrals that cross my desk.
For two years I worked as an Independent Career Agent, under the aegis of Rey Villarreal and Michael Yasi with United Health Care. I performed well working in that capacity, and was subsequently introduced to the “broker channel”. In 2011, I had set up a general agency representing multiple carriers and developed a significant down line of agents. For the next 5 years, I worked vigorously to aid Medicare beneficiaries in various major markets Like Dallas, Austin, Corpus Christi, and San Antonio as a Managing General Agent.
Enjoying my burgeoning insurance career, able to partner with whichever company I chose, I also enjoyed top-notch training as an Aflac agent. I quickly became familiar with the commercial health insurance market initiating new business and servicing existing accounts.
However, with the ever present uncertainty associated with health insurance, currently, I have decided to continue to work in the insurance industry, but following a different path. My new path, which includes new partners, such as Goosehead Insurance, is exciting to me and offers a new chapter in my ongoing insurance saga.
