While working on my first job after college as a Junior Accountant, a peer informed me of her father’s dedication and appreciation to his employer, State Farm Insurance.  She told me he worked as a Claims Superintendent and really loved his job.  He always spoke glowingly of his company, the work they did and the benefits they enjoyed.   This served as my introduction to the insurance industry and led to me getting a job as a Claims Representative with State Farm Fire and Casualty Insurance in 1993.

All folks in this role began their State Farm claims careers with training that I still describe as the ‘the best in the industry’.  Our work cemented my dedication to insurance, as I was able to recognize its importance to policyholders who needed us to keep the promises provided in the contract of insurance.

I’ve had the opportunity to perform in many different roles during my career in the insurance industry and now it is time to perform as a producer.  Goosehead Insurance has the model that ensures success and makes it as easy as possible to begin this venture.  I am excited to share the products with my many contacts, family and friends moving forward, and I look forward to working with professionals in the mortgage industry, real estate, financial advisors, etc.  Also, I will be in contact with my many friends at State Farm, especially those captive agents who may have policyholders I can assist with coverage that may not meet their underwriting requirements.

Currently, I am quite active with my Church and fraternal organization, so along with my family and friends, I will make sure they also hear the benefits they may reap regarding this opportunity.  As a professional with an extensive understanding of coverages and their application, I am able to ensure a policyholder gets all the coverage they want and need and not any that is excessive and unwarranted.  I have knowledge about the unique dynamics that make up the property and casualty industry in our state.

After leaving State Farm after 15 years in the role of Claim Representative and Team Manager, I began working in the role of Vice President, Claims, where I was responsible for all facets of activity for a domestic commercial-lines insurance carrier’s Claims Department.   This role included the oversight and direction of independent adjusters, attorneys, experts, etc.  I also assisted brokers with risk management to protect exposures, including business written with the Lloyd’s of London carriers.

Currently, I am the owner and operator of DL Cheesborough Insurance Agency & Consulting Services, LLC, where we focus on a menu of services designed to assist clients and customers resolve issues, improve results, and find solutions to make a difference for their insurance needs.  Our main focus is consulting with carriers, but we’ve been able to assist individuals with obtaining coverage for their risks.

Additionally, I work at a local insurance school where I instruct students pursuing insurance licenses, mainly the General Lines Agents candidates. I also provide instruction of certified Continued Education courses to multiple licensees, including Agents, the All-Lines Adjuster and the Public Adjuster.   Here, my designation as a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) serves me well.

The opportunity to operate and own an Insurance Agency will be the culmination of a career in this industry that has been focused on the service of both internal and external customers.  The knowledge and experiences gained over the years will enable me to share the benefits of quality insurance products that meet the needs of policyholders.  As a husband and father of three, I look forward to making this opportunity a legacy for my family.  Thank you.
